The Florida resident in this case left his Mercedes Benz S500 parked in a commercial lot while he was out of the country. Unfortunately, when he returned, his car was gone. Thanks to the LoJack® system he had installed when purchasing his S500, local police were able to track and recover it that same day.

On September 22nd, 2013, the owner of the Mercedes contacted the Collier County Sheriff’s Office report their vehicle stolen. The responding deputy verified the theft and entered the vehicle’s information into the state and federal crime computers. This routine police procedure automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the S500, which was installed at Mercedes Benz of Daytona Beach, FL.

A short while later, Naples PD officers picked up the silent LoJack homing signal from the stolen Mercedes on the LoJack tracking computer installed in their patrol vehicle. The officers, along with their backup, located the vehicle backed into the driveway of a residence on Port Avenue. The S500 was recovered and soon returned to its grateful owner.
