The Toyota Avalon in this case was stolen from an Oklahoma City, OK residence late one Monday morning. Thanks to the LoJack® system the owner had installed when purchasing his car, local police were able to recover it in just 14 minutes after activation.

On October 17th, 2013, the Avalon’s owner contacted Oklahoma City Police to report the crime. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Avalon, which was installed at AutoNation Toyota in Cerritos, CA.

A short while later, a deputy with the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Department picked up the homing signal from the stolen car with the LoJack tracking computer installed in his patrol car. Other deputies received the signal as well, and they were led to the area of S.W. 25th and St. Claire in Oklahoma City, where the Toyota was parked at a residence known for criminal activity. Two suspects at the scene were taken into custody, and the Avalon was soon returned to its relieved owner.
