When a Jeep Cherokee went missing in Mountain View, CO, the owners called local police right away. They knew that the LoJack® system installed in the car would help police locate it quickly, but they were pleasantly surprised that the recovery took only 10 minutes after activation.

On September 24th, 2013, the Jeep’s owners contacted the Mountain View Police to report the crime. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Jeep, which was installed at Galloway Motors in Houston, TX.

A short while later, officers with the Aurora PD picked up the homing signals from the stolen Jeep with the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The officers tracked the vehicle to the area of Colfax and Ursula, where it was found parked and abandoned. The Cherokee was soon returned to its happy owner. This was the second instance where the Jeep had been stolen and recovered by police assisted by the LoJack system.
