Just like domestic drivers, auto dealerships depend upon the LoJack® system to assist police in retrieving cars, trucks, vans and motorcycles taken from their businesses. In this case, an Acura TL is recovered, as well as another vehicle taken in the same incident.

On August 27th, 2013, a car dealer contacted New Haven, CT Police to report that five cars were stolen off the lot overnight. Officers verified the theft and entered all five VINs (vehicle’s identification numbers) into their state and federal crime computers. The LoJack device installed in one of the cars, an Acura TL, was then automatically activated.

A short while later, detectives from the Connecticut State Police Auto Theft Task Force picked up the homing signals from the Acura with the LoJack tracking computers installed in their police vehicles. The officers located the TL in a public parking lot in West Haven. Surveillance was conducted and a subject returned to the car and attempted to drive off. He was quickly apprehended. The suspect also had keys to another vehicle stolen the previous evening and that was recovered as well. He was also in possession of several sets of stolen plates. The remaining stolen vehicles have not been recovered at this time. The Acura and the other recovered vehicle were soon returned to the relieved dealership.
