The Gold Bar, WA residents in this case went from ‘Good Morning!’ to ‘Good Grief!’ when they woke up one Thursday morning to find their 2012 Mazda 3 missing from their driveway. The LoJack® system they had installed when purchasing their car proved to be a good investment, because it helped local law enforcement recover it in just over an hour after activation.

On September 12th, 2013, the Mazda’s owner contacted the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office to report the crime. Deputies verified the theft and entered the vehicle identification number (VIN) into the state and federal crime computers. That process automatically activated the LoJack unit concealed in the 3, which was installed at Lee Johnson Mazda in Kirkland, WA.

A short time later, a Snohomish County Sheriff reserve deputy received the homing signal transmitting from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computer installed in his patrol vehicle. The deputy called for backup and located the Mazda parked and abandoned on Fifth Street in Gold Bar. The only damage was some missing stereo speakers. The 3 was soon returned to its very grateful owners.
