When this Honda Civic Hybrid owner went shopping in downtown Reno one Friday afternoon, she didn’t think she was taking a gamble when parking her car, but, when she returned, her vehicle was gone. Luckily, she was smart enough to take a safe bet by having the LoJack® system installed in her car, which helped police recover it in a casino parking lot less than 45 minutes after activation.

The Honda’s owner contacted the Reno Police on September 20th, 2013, to report the crime. Officers entered the vehicle’s information into their local stolen vehicle system and the NCIC national vehicle theft data base. This routine police action automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Civic, which was installed at Hoehn Honda in Carlsbad, CA.

Less than an hour later, officers with the Reno PD began to receive the homing signal from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The officers tracked and located the Civic Hybrid parked and abandoned. The Honda was soon returned to its very grateful owner.
