The victim in this case was at work one Tuesday when someone entered the break room, took her keys and wallet, and then drove away in her 2009 Hummer H3. What the thief didn’t know is that he or she also drove away with the LoJack® system hidden in the SUV, which helped local police recover the vehicle in less than a half hour after activation.

On September 17th, 2013, the Hummer’s owner discovered the crime and contacted Federal Way Police. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle identification number into the state and federal crime computers. That process automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Hummer, which was installed at Enterprise Car Sales in Renton, WA.

A short time later, a Federal Way PD officer received the homing signal transmitting from the stolen SUV on the LoJack tracking computer installed in his patrol car. Additional Federal Way units joined in the search and tracked it to South 320th Street near the Southbound Interstate 5 on-ramp, where it was parked and abandoned. The undamaged H3 was soon returned to its very grateful owner.
