Waking up on Monday morning to find your vehicle gone is a lousy way to start the week. The Miami Gardens, FL residents who experienced this scenario with their Chevrolet Silverado prepared for this possibility by having the LoJack® system installed in their truck. Their local police, aided by LoJack, were able to recover the Silverado in less than 20 minutes after activation.

On September 16th, 2013, the Chevy’s owners contacted the Miami Gardens Police to report the crime. The responding officer verified the theft and entered the vehicle’s information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the pickup, which was installed at Maroone Chevrolet of Pembroke Pines, FL.

A short while later, a Broward County Sheriff’s Office deputy picked up the homing signal from the stolen truck on the LoJack tracking computer installed in his patrol vehicle. The deputy called for backup and found the vehicle abandoned, backed into a parking space on Monroe Street in Hollywood. The Silverado had only door lock and ignition damage, and was soon returned to its relieved owners.
