Early one Thursday evening, the owners of a Mazda CX-7 got an unwelcome surprise when the discovered their vehicle missing from where they parked it earlier that day. These victims did not have worry very long because their local law enforcement, with help from the LoJack® system the owners had installed upon purchase, recovered the CX-7 in less than a half hour after activation.

On September 19th, 2013, the Mazda’s owners contacted the Miami PD to report the crime. The responding officer prepared a stolen vehicle report and theft affidavit and had the vehicle’s information entered into the state and federal crime computers. This routine police procedure automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the CX-7, which was installed at Lehman Mazda in Miami Gardens, FL.

A short while later, a Miami PD officer picked up the homing signal from the stolen SUV on the LoJack tracking computer installed in his patrol vehicle. Officers from Miami-Dade PD and the Miami PD robbery unit picked up the signal as well. The officers tracked the Mazda to a gas station at the corner of Biscayne Boulevard and N.W. 36th Street. The officers stopped the car and apprehended the occupants, one of whom was in possession of illegal drugs. The SUV was soon returned to its very happy owners.
