The operator of a Mack dump truck found his machine missing right after lunch one recent Wednesday. The LoJack® system installed in the vehicle certainly came in handy- with its assistance, local police were able to recover the Mack in just 19 minutes after activation.

On September 12th, 2013, the truck’s operator contacted the Hillsborough County, FL Sheriff’s Office to report their vehicle stolen. The responding officer verified the theft and had the vehicle’s information entered into the state and federal crime computers. This routine police procedure automatically activated the LoJack unit concealed in the Mack.

A very short time later, a Miami-Dade Police Department officer picked up the homing signal from the dump truck on the LoJack tracking computer installed in his patrol vehicle. The officer called for backup and located the Mack abandoned on 9300 block N.W. 36th Avenue. It was recovered and soon returned to its relieved operator.
