When a car, truck, van or motorcycle is stolen, time is of the essence when it comes to retrieving it. The faster the police find the vehicle, the less time the thief has to harm it in any way. In this case, the LoJack® system helped police recover a Ford F-150 pickup truck stolen in Kendall, FL in less than four hours after activation.

On September 11th, 2013, the Ford’s owner contacted the Miami-Dade Police to report their truck stolen. The responding officer prepared a stolen vehicle report and theft affidavit and had the vehicle’s information entered into the state and federal crime computers. The LoJack unit concealed in the F-250, which was installed at Plantation Ford in Plantation, FL, was then automatically activated.

A short while later, a Hialeah Police K-9 officer picked up the homing signal from the stolen pickup on the LoJack tracking computer installed in their patrol vehicles. The officer located the F-250 parked behind a fence on the side of a private home. A subject approached the vehicle and was taken into custody. The Ford was soon returned to its very grateful owners.
