The owner of the Ford F-250 truck almost had his entire weekend ruined when his pickup was stolen from his residence one Friday afternoon. Because our victim was smart enough to have the LoJack® system installed in his vehicle, local police were able to recover it in less than a half hour after activation.

On September 20th, 2013, the Ford’s owners contacted the Miami Beach Police to report the crime. The responding officer prepared a stolen vehicle report and theft affidavit and had the vehicle’s information entered into the state and federal crime computers. The LoJack unit installed in the F-250, which was installed at World Ford-Kendall in Miami, FL, was then automatically activated.

A short while later, Miami-Dade police officers picked up the homing signal from the stolen pickup on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The officers found the Ford in an apartment complex parking lot on N.W. 87th Avenue and contacted MDPD Midwest District auto theft unit detectives who set up surveillance. Two subjects approached the vehicle and attempted to drive off. The detectives stopped the truck and apprehended the suspects. The F-250, which had back window and ignition damage, was soon returned to its grateful owners.
