Friday the 13th turned out to be a lucky day- both good and bad- for the Brooklyn, NY resident in this case. The bad luck- his 2011 Honda CR-V was stolen from his home. The good luck- the LoJack® system he had installed when he bought his SUV helped local police recover it in just 41 minutes after activation.

On September 13th, 2013, the Honda’s owner contacted the NYPD to report his vehicle was stolen. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers (NYSPIN/ NCIC). The LoJack unit concealed in the CR-V, which was installed at Bay Ridge Honda in Brooklyn, NY, was then automatically activated.

A short time later, detectives assigned to the NYPD Auto Crime Division picked up the homing signals from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computer installed in their unmarked vehicle. The detectives located the Honda parked and unoccupied on Utica Ave in Brooklyn. The vehicle had some minor damage and was soon returned to its extremely happy owner.
