The owner of a 2008 Acura TL decided to valet park his car one Saturday in Manhattan, most likely because he preferred a safer, easier option than parking on the street. Imagine how horrified he must have felt when he returned to find both his car and his keys gone. This victim had already made a choice to keep his vehicle safe- he had the LoJack® system installed when he bought his TL, so local law enforcement using LoJack were able to recover the car fast and return it to him.

On September 14th, 2013, the Acura’s owner contacted NYPD to report the crime. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers (NYSPIN and NCIC). This procedure automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the TL, which was installed at Paragon Acura in Woodside, NY.

A short time later, officers assigned to NYPD’s 44th precinct picked up the homing signals from the Acura on the LoJack tracking computer installed in their patrol vehicle. The officers tracked the vehicle to a parking lot on the Grand Concourse in the Bronx, where it was abandoned. After a short surveillance, the TL was recovered and released to its happy owner.
