Construction equipment rental companies often install the LoJack® system on their entire inventory, because if one of their machines is stolen and not recovered, they lose both the valuable asset itself as well as the rental income. In this case a stolen air compressor was recovered the same day it was stolen by local law enforcement assisted by LoJack.

On August 29th, 2013, the Pasadena, TX branch of a large national equipment rental company notified Houston Police Department that a Sullair air compressor had been stolen from a job site. Houston PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into their state and federal crime computers. The LoJack transponder concealed in the air compressor was then automatically activated.

A short while later, a deputy from Harris County Sheriff Department picked up the homing signals from the stolen air compressor on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The deputies tracked the machine to a repair facility, where a previously stolen 8 foot trailer was also found. The Sullair was soon returned to the very grateful rental company.
