The stolen BMW 281 in this case was taken while it was being transported to another state. Although the owners were not in direct possession of the car at the time, they were still able to call police to have their LoJack® system activated, and the 281 was recovered that same day.

On September 8th, 2013, the BMW’s owner contacted the Tulsa Police to report the car had been stolen. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the 281, which was installed at Braman BMW in West Palm Beach, FL.

A short while later, an officer with the Tulsa PD’s Gilcrease Division picked up the homing signal from the BMW with the LoJack tracking computer installed in his patrol car. The officer located the car in the driveway of a vacant house on E. Oklahoma St., where it was parked and abandoned. The 281 was soon returned to its very relieved owners.
