This case involves a Phoenix, AZ resident who was assaulted early one Sunday morning. To add insult to injury, the perpetrators then took off in the victim’s Buick Lucerne. The LoJack® system installed in the car not only helped local law enforcement recover the Buick in less than an hour, it allowed officers to locate the suspects and take them into custody as well.

The victim contacted Phoenix Police to report the crime. Officers verified the theft and entered the car’s information into the NCIC police computer. This routine police action automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Lucerne, which was installed at Volkswagen on North Scottsdale, AZ.

A short while later, Phoenix PD officers from the Cactus Park Precinct began picking up the homing signal from the Buick with the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The officers tracked the car to a hotel lot on North Black Canyon Highway where it was parked with three suspects inside. All three were taken into custody and the undamaged Lucerne was soon returned to its grateful owner.
