The California-based owner of the Honda Civic Hybrid in our next case got a phone call from her car’s LoJack® Early Warning system that her vehicle was being moved- while she was vacationing in Hawaii. Her local police were able to recover her car, assisted by LoJack, in just over an hour after activation.

On September 4th, 2013, the Honda’s owner called a friend at home to check on the car for her. After verifying that the Civic was gone, the owner called Oakland police to report the crime. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Civic, which was installed at Honda of Oakland, CA.

A short while later, Oakland PD officers picked up the homing signals from the Honda on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. They quickly tracked the car and found it parked and abandoned on the street. The police contacted the relieved owner and made arrangements for her to pick up her undamaged Civic Hybrid upon her return.
