In this case, a Cadillac SRX stolen in Pennsylvania is recovered by police in New York City with the help of a LoJack® system installed in Massachusetts in less than an hour and a half after activation.

On August 31st, 2013, the Cadillac’s owner contacted the Penbrook Police in Harrisburg, PA, to report that his vehicle was stolen from his residence. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the Penbrook stolen vehicle computer and the NCIC national stolen vehicle system. The LoJack unit on the SRX, which was installed at Frost Motors in Newton, MA, was then automatically activated.

A short while later, officers from the 84th Precinct in Brooklyn, NY, received the homing signal from the Cadillac on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. Officers tracked the SUV to a residential street in the Navy Yard section of Brooklyn, where it was found parked and abandoned.

The owner was contacted and elated to know that his vehicle was recovered so far away, especially in such good condition. He further stated that he was grateful that the LoJack was installed on his vehicle when he purchased it, feeling that if it wasn’t for LoJack his vehicle may never have been recovered.
