The Miami, FL residents in this case discovered their Ford F-250 truck was taken very, very early one Tuesday morning. Although these victims might have been a little sleepy at this time of day, the LoJack® system installed in their pickup was wide awake, and local police were able to recover the vehicle in less than four hours after activation.

On July 30th, 2013, the Ford’s owners contacted the Miami-Dade Police to report their vehicle stolen. The responding officer prepared a stolen vehicle report and had the vehicle’s information entered into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the pickup, which was installed at World Ford-Kendall in Miami, FL.

A short while later, Miami-Dade PD officers picked up the homing signal from the F-250 on the LoJack tracking computer installed in their patrol vehicle. The officers called for backup, and located the vehicle parked and abandoned near S.W. 61st Street and 163rd Avenue. The Ford, which had only ignition damage, was soon returned to its relieved owners.
