This case involves a Mercury Mountaineer stolen from a Texas residence and located the same day by local law enforcement assisted by the LoJack® system. The owners were pleased but not surprised that their vehicle was found, because this is the second time their SUV was taken and recovered using LoJack.

On August 13th, 2013, the Lincoln’s owner contacted the Liberty County Sheriff’s Department and reported that his SUV was stolen from his residential driveway sometime during the previous night. LCSD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the State and Federal crime computers. The LoJack transponder concealed in the Mercury SUV, which was installed at Superior Lincoln Mercury in Baytown, TX, was then automatically activated.

A short while later, some LCSD Deputies picked up the homing signals from the stolen SUV on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The deputies tracked the Lincoln to a rural road where it was parked and abandoned. The Mountaineer was soon returned to its very grateful owner.
