Waking up to discover that your car, truck, van or motorcycle is not where you parked it the night before is a very unpleasant way to start the day. The owner of the Toyota Camry in this case had a way to make this situation a little less difficult- he had the LoJack® system installed when he purchased his car, so local law enforcement recovered it that same day.

On June 16th, 2013, the Toyota’s owner contacted the Rialto Police Department to report that his vehicle was stolen. Rialto PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. The LoJack unit concealed in the Camry, which was installed at Toyota of Riverside, CA, was then automatically activated.

A short while later, officers from the California Highway Patrol Air Unit picked up the homing signals from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computer installed in their helicopter. The flight crew tracked the vehicle to a residential area in Victorville and contacted ground units. One suspect was taken into custody, and the undamaged Camry was soon returned to its very happy owner.
