One minute is all it takes. That’s probably what the New Orleans, LA resident in this case thought when she left the key in her Toyota Avalon and went to pay for gas. Unfortunately, that same minute was all the time a thief needed to jump into her car and drive away. Local law enforcement and the LoJack® system came to this victim’s rescue- tracking down and recovering her vehicle in less than two hours after activation.

The Toyota’s owner contacted the New Orleans Police Department to report the crime. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Avalon, which was installed at Stone Mountain Toyota in Stone Mountain, GA.

A short while later, an NOPD patrol unit picked up the homing signals from the Toyota on the LoJack tracking computer installed in their patrol vehicle. The officers tracked and finally stopped the car. The three occupants were in possession of drug paraphernalia, and were taken into custody. The Toyota Avalon was undamaged and soon returned to its happy owner.
