The Decatur, GA resident in this case found his Mercedes E-350 missing one Wednesday morning. When his local police entered the car’s information into their auto theft computer, the LoJack® system was activated and the police were able to recover it that same day.

On August 7th, 2013, the owners of the Mercedes contacted the DeKalb County Police to report that their vehicle had been stolen. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. The LoJack transponder concealed in the vehicle, which was installed at RMB of Atlanta, GA, was then automatically activated.

A short while later, the DeKalb County PD Air Support Unit began receiving homing signals from the Mercedes on the LoJack tracking computer installed in their helicopter. The pilot tracked the vehicle to an apartment complex, and requested assistance. The ground unit officer found a person inside the car who was arrested for the theft. The E350 was soon returned to its relieved owner.
