This Toyota Prius owner wanted to make sure his car was warmed up before he left for work. Unfortunately, when he was ready to leave, his car had already left- with a thief at the wheel. The LoJack® system the owner had purchased when he bought his Prius just six months ago enabled local police to track it down and return it to him.

On August 8th, 2013, the owner of the Prius contacted the Gwinnett County Police to report that his vehicle was missing from his home in Lawrenceville. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack unit concealed in the car, which was installed at Atlanta Toyota in Duluth, GA.

A short while later, a Gwinnett County Police officer began receiving a homing signal from the Toyota on the LoJack tracking computer installed in his patrol unit. The officer tracked the vehicle to a shopping area where it was parked and abandoned. The Prius was soon returned to its relieved owner.
