Imagine traveling home around midnight after spending the evening with friends- and suddenly being accosted by armed robbers. This scary situation happened to the owner of a GMC Terrain in Chicago, IL. In addition to her vehicle, purse, money and phone, the thieves ended up taking the LoJack® system hidden in her SUV, which helped police recover the vehicle in just 10 minutes after activation.

On July 27th, 2013, the GMC’s owner contacted Chicago Police to report the crime. Officers verified the theft and entered the SUV’s information into the local and federal crime computers. The LoJack system concealed in the Terrain, which was installed at Castle Buick in Chicago, IL, was then automatically activated.

A short time later, officers in Chicago’s 6th and 22nd Districts began receiving homing signals from the GMC on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. They located the Terrain at 88th and Princeton Ave., where it was found parked and unoccupied. One suspect was later arrested, and the undamaged GMC was soon returned to its grateful owner, who stated “I love you guys, (LoJack) you’re the best! I can’t believe LoJack works that good, ten minutes is all it took!”
