Workers at a construction site in Coral Springs, Florida returned to the job after a weekend off and realize they were missing a 2009 Caterpillar 958H front-end loader. Company management did a smart thing when they had the LoJack® system installed at the time of purchase, because local police using LoJack were able to track the loader down in less than 40 minutes after activation.

On July 30th, 2013, the construction site supervisor contacted the Florida Highway Patrol to report the crime. The responding officer verified the theft and entered the vehicle’s information into the state and federal crime computers. This automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the front-end loader.

A short while later, a Hialeah PD K-9 officer picked up the homing signal from the Caterpillar on his LoJack tracking computer. He notified the Miami-Dade Police auto theft unit. The loader was quickly located near the corner of N.W. 29th Court and 72nd Street, and soon returned to a very relieved construction company.
