This Jupiter, FL computer store owner discovered double trouble when opening his business one Monday morning. Thieves had broken into his store, stolen several computers, and then helped themselves to two delivery trucks to carry their loot. It’s a good thing that their 2010 Chevrolet Express truck had the LoJack® system installed, so local police were able to recover it in less than a half hour after activation.

On July 1st, 2013, the company’s owner contacted the Jupiter Police to report the burglary and the missing vehicles. The responding officer verified the theft and had the vehicles’ information entered into the state and federal crime computers. This routine police procedure automatically activated the LoJack unit concealed in the Express, which was installed at Schumacher Automotive in Lake Park, FL.

A short while later, a Hialeah Police K-9 officer picked up the homing signal from the box truck on the LoJack tracking computer installed in the patrol vehicle. The officer called for backup from an auto theft detective, and tracked the Chevy to the warehouse district of Hialeah, where it was found parked and abandoned. The Express was soon returned to its grateful owner. The other truck, which was not protected with LoJack, was not located.
