The Kearns, UT resident in this case had his Honda Civic stolen from his residence one Monday afternoon and, thanks to his local police working with the LoJack® system, his car was recovered in less than two and a half hours after activation.

On July 29th, 2013, the Honda’s owners immediately contacted the Unified Police of Greater Salt Lake. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle into the state and national stolen vehicle computer system. This automatically activated the LoJack unit concealed in the Civic, which was installed at Miller Honda in Van Nuys, CA.

A short while later, a Patrol Sergeant with Unified PD began picking up the homing signal from the Honda on the LoJack tracking computer installed in his patrol vehicle. The car was located at a residence on West 5055 South in Kearns, where surveillance was set up. A male suspect exited the home and attempted to drive off in the vehicle. As officers approached, he fled on foot but was quickly captured and arrested. The Civic was soon returned to its happy owner.
