Houston, Texas Police Recover Stolen Dodge R15 Pickup Assisted by the LoJack® System

The Houston, TX resident in this case woke up one Wednesday morning to find his Dodge R15 pickup missing from his driveway. The victim did have one reason to be glad- he chose to have the LoJack® system installed when he bought his truck, so local police were able to not only recover it but apprehend the thief as well.
On July 31st, 2013, the Dodge’s owner contacted the Houston Police Department and reported the crime. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the R15, which was installed at Clear Lake Dodge in Houston, TX.
A short while later, an officer from the Houston PD Auto Theft Unit picked up the homing signals from the pickup on the LoJack tracking computer installed in his patrol vehicle. He tracked the pickup to a residential area where it was parked in front of a private home. After calling for backup, the officer set up surveillance, and witnessed three suspects enter the vehicle and attempt to drive away. The R15 was stopped and the driver arrested. The Dodge was soon returned to its grateful owner.
