When you have the LoJack® system installed in your new car, truck, van or motorcycle, you probably don’t realize how glad you will be that it’s there if your vehicle is ever stolen. The Oklahoma residents in this case did not have to wait very long to find out- their 2013 Kia Optima was taken just two months after they purchased it, and local police assisted by LoJack were able to recover their car in less than three hours after activation
.
On July 27th, 2013, the Kia’s owners contacted the Tulsa Police Department to report that their car had been stolen from a parking area on Riverside Dr. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. The LoJack device concealed in the Optima, which was installed at Ferguson Pontiac-GMC in Broken Arrow, OK, was then automatically activated.

A short while later, an officer with the Tulsa PD’s Gilcrease Division picked up the homing signal from Kia with the LoJack tracking computer installed in his patrol car. The officer was able to quickly locate the stolen Cadillac on South Elwood St. in Tulsa. The unoccupied car was parked in the lot of an apartment complex. The Optima, valued at $25,000, was soon returned to its grateful owners.
