This case involves a stolen Dodge Ram pickup that the thief tried to ‘hide in plain sight’ by parking it in front of a home. It looked like any other private vehicle- but the LoJack® system hidden inside helped law enforcement find it and return it to its rightful owner.

On July 24th, 2013, the Dodge’s owner contacted the Richland County, SC Sheriff’s Office to report the crime. RCSO verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. The LoJack device concealed in the truck, which was installed at Autowest Dodge Chrysler Jeep in Roseville, CA, was then automatically activated.

A short while later, officers from RCSO picked up the homing signals from the Ram on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The officers tracked the truck to a residential area where it was found parked in front of a private residence. The Dodge’s owner was very grateful to have his truck returned.
