In the early morning hours of July 18th, 2013, the owner of a Dodge Neon was carjacked at gunpoint in a shopping area. This scary situation for the victim was made a little easier because there was a LoJack® system installed in the car, so police were able to recover it that same morning.

The Neon’s owner contacted the Riverdale, GA Police to report the incident. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. The LoJack device concealed in the vehicle, which was installed at Herb Gordon Used Cars in Silver Spring, MD, was then automatically activated.

A short while later, a GA State Patrol Trooper began receiving homing signals from the Dodge on the LoJack tracking computer installed in his patrol car. The trooper tracked the Neon to an apartment complex where it was spotted moving with five people inside. The vehicle was stopped and, although some of the suspects tried to flee, they were all eventually taken into custody and the car was returned to its very relieved owner.
