In this case, a thief swipes a key fob from an auto dealer and ends up stealing a 2011 Infiniti M37. The crook didn’t know that the car was already protected by the LoJack® system, so police were able to locate the vehicle in less than an hour after activation.

The dealership contacted the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office to report the incident. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack unit concealed in the Infiniti.

A short time later, a St. John Sheriff’s deputy picked up the homing signals from the M37 on the LoJack tracking computers installed in his patrol vehicle. He tracked the car to the parking lot of a motel in Laplace, where it was parked and abandoned. As the result of evidence recovered at the scene, the suspect was located at his home while in possession of the key fob. He was arrested and the undamaged Infiniti was soon returned to the relieved dealership.
