The Renton, WA resident in this case was unloading items from his Ford Escape into his home, when an opportunistic thief hopped in his vehicle and drove it away. Luckily, one of the items still in the SUV at the time was the LoJack® system, hidden so the crook didn’t notice it, but still able to send a homing signal to help police recover it in just 11 minutes after activation.

The Escape’s owner informed Renton Police of the incident right away. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle identification number into the state and federal crime computers. That process automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the SUV, which was installed at Pacific Coast Ford in Federal Way, WA.

Just five minutes later, a Kent PD officer received the homing signal transmitting from the stolen SUV on the LoJack tracking computer installed in his patrol vehicle. He tracked the Ford to SE 240th Street in Kent where he observed the car, occupied by a male suspect who was taken into custody. The undamaged Escape was soon returned to its relieved and grateful owner.
