Imagine how panicked you would feel if you walked out of your home to take a drive somewhere and your vehicle was gone. The loss of your car, truck, van or motorcycle, whether permanent or temporary, is a major inconvenience and a pretty scary event. One way to make this situation a little less unpleasant is to have the LoJack® system installed when you purchase your vehicle, as the Texas owner of the Ford F-150 in this case did, so his local police were able to recover it in a little over three hours after activation.

On July 18th, 2013, the Ford’s owner contacted the Dallas Police Dept. to report that his vehicle was stolen from an apartment complex. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This procedure automatically activated the LoJack unit concealed in the 2007 Cadillac Escalade, which was installed at Freeman Toyota in Hurst, TX.

A short while later, officers from the Dallas PD picked up the homing signals from the Ford on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. They tracked the truck to a convenience store lot and set up surveillance. A male suspect entered the vehicle and tried to drive away. Police stopped the truck and arrested the driver. The undamaged F-150 was soon returned to its happy owner.
