The Ford F-250 pickup in this case was stolen from a motel parking lot in Montesano, WA sometime during a five day period while the owner was away. Despite the uncertainty about when it was stolen, the truck was still recovered by police, assisted by the LoJack® system, in less than a half hour after activation.

The F-250’s owner contacted Montesano Police as soon as her realized it was stolen. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle identification number into the state and federal crime computers. That process automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the truck, which was installed at The Ford Store in San Leandro, CA.

A few minutes later, a police officer in Gresham, OR received the homing signal transmitting from the F-250 on the LoJack tracking computer installed in his patrol car. The officer tracked the signal to NE 172nd Street in Gresham where he located the truck abandoned and undamaged. The Ford was soon returned to its very grateful owner.
