A Mercedes Benz CL350 was stolen from a private residence one Tuesday morning and then moved to another area to ‘cool off’, meaning the thief wanted to let the search by police run its course before either selling the car or taking it apart. The owners were smart enough to have the LoJack® system installed when purchasing their Benz, so police were able to track it down before it ‘cooled off’- in just a little over 90 minutes after activation.

On July 17th, 2013, the Mercedes’ owner contacted the Fulton County Police to report that their vehicle had been stolen. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the vehicle, which was installed at Mercedes Benz of Huntington, NY.

A short while later, the Fulton County Police began receiving the homing signals from the Mercedes on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The officers tracked the vehicle to a private home where it was found parked and abandoned. The undamaged CL350 was soon returned to its grateful owner.
