It’s a safe bet that the Irvington, NJ resident in this case got a major shock when he left his home one Sunday morning to find that his Toyota Camry was missing from where he parked it a few hours ago. It’s a good thing that he had the LoJack® system installed when he purchased his car, so local police were able to recover it that same morning.

On July 14th, 2013, the Toyota’s owner called the Irvington Police to report that his vehicle had been stolen. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. The LoJack transponder concealed in the Camry, which was installed at Toyota of Morristown, NJ, was then automatically activated.

A short time later, an Irvington PD officer picked up the homing signal from the Camry on the LoJack tracking computer installed in his patrol vehicle. The officer tracked the vehicle to the parking lot of a housing project, where he found the Toyota abandoned and undamaged. The Camry’s owner was thrilled to get his car back.
