It’s never a good idea to leave your keys in your car, and then leave your car unattended. You never know when someone could be watching and waiting for you to let your guard down, so they can slip into the driver’s seat and take off with your hard earned asset. This is the sad circumstance that happened to a New Jersey resident who luckily had the LoJack® system installed in his 2009 Infiniti GX37X, so police were able to recover it the same day.

On July 16th, 2013, the Infiniti’s owner contacted Roselle, NJ Police to report his vehicle was stolen while parked in front of his house, when his keys were inadvertently left inside. Roselle PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This automatically activated the LoJack unit in the GX37X, which was installed at Millennium Infiniti in Manhasset, NY.

A short time later, detectives assigned to NYPD’s Auto Crime Division, picked up the homing signals from the Infiniti on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. After calling for backup, the detectives spotted the moving vehicle at the intersection of E227th St and White Plains Road, in the Bronx’s 47th precinct. Officers surrounded the vehicle and arrested the driver. The undamaged GX37X was soon returned to its extremely happy owner.
