There’s an old English proverb that states ‘with friends like these, who needs enemies?’  It’s a pretty sure bet that this saying crossed the mind of the Winnemucca, NV resident in this case when a ‘friend’ borrowed his Infiniti G35 and failed to return it. What the thief didn’t know is that he was also ‘borrowing’ the LoJack® system, which was hidden inside the G35 and allowed law enforcement to locate the car in less than a half hour after activation.

On July 4th, 2013, the Infiniti’s owner contacted the Winnemucca Police. The vehicle information was entered into the national vehicle theft data base, NCIC. This routine police action automatically activated the LoJack unit concealed in the G35, which was installed at Infiniti of South Bay in Torrance, CA.

A short time later, officers with the Nevada Highway Patrol and the Sparks, NV Police both began to receive the homing signal from the Infiniti on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The officers tracked the car to the parking lot of a fast food restaurant in Sparks, where it was parked and abandoned. The G35 was soon returned to its relieved owner.
