The owners of the Jaguar XJ8 in this case were trying to play it safe by keeping their sports car in storage rather than at their home. Imagine their shock when they found it missing from the storage facility. It’s a good thing that there was a LoJack® system installed on the Jag, so local law enforcement was not only able to recover the car, but took two suspects into custody as well.

On July 6th, 2013, the Jaguar’s owners contacted the Lone Tree, CO Police Department and reported that their vehicle had been stolen from its storage location sometime in the past two weeks.  Police verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This action automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Jaguar, which was installed at Galpin Jaguar-Lincoln-Volvo in Van Nuys, CA.

A short while later, a trooper with the Colorado State Patrol picked up the homing signals from the Jaguar with the LoJack tracking computer installed in his patrol vehicle. He called for backup and tracked the car to a residential neighborhood in South Youngfield, where it was parked in a residential driveway. When officers knocked, two men came out in a hostile and threatening manner, but were soon taken into custody. The XJ8 was soon returned to its happy owners.
