The LoJack® System Helps Riverside, California Police Recover Stolen Hyundai Elantra

The Riverside, CA resident in this case had a week no one would envy- her home was burglarized and her keys taken, and two days later her brand new  2013 Hyundai Elantra disappeared. We’re sure she was glad she chose to have the LoJack® system installed less than four months ago, because it helped local law enforcement track her car down that same day, along with some of her stolen belongings.

On July 3rd, 2013, the Elantra’s owner contacted the Riverside Police Department to report that her vehicle was stolen from her residence. Riverside PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Hyundai, which was installed at Riverside Metro Auto Group in Riverside, CA.

A short time later, officers from Riverside Police Department picked up the homing signals from the Hyundai on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles.  The officers tracked the car as it was traveling in Riverside and initiated a traffic stop. Two suspects were taken into custody and charged with auto theft and possession of stolen property. The owner was very happy to have her undamaged Elantra returned to her.
