These Baltimore, Maryland residents probably weren’t expecting their vehicle to be stolen one Tuesday evening, but they were smart enough to prepare for the possibility by having the LoJack® system installed when they purchased their Toyota Camry, so their local police were able to recover their car in just 73 minutes after activation.

On July 2nd, 2013, the Camry’s owners contacted the Baltimore City Police to report that their Toyota was stolen from N. Gay Street in Baltimore. BCPD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. The LoJack unit concealed in the Camry, which was installed at Russel Toyota in Baltimore, MD, was then automatically activated.

A short time later, detectives from the Regional Auto Theft Team (RATT) and flight officers in the Baltimore City Aviation Unit “Foxtrot” picked up the homing signals from the Toyota on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles and helicopter. The detectives tracked the vehicle to Pulaski Highway in Baltimore, where it was parked and unoccupied. The undamaged Camry was soon returned to its relieved owners.
