‘The City of Brotherly Love’, as Philadelphia, PA is nicknamed, has a rich history and would seem like a great place to be on the Fourth of July, but the thief in this case chose to dishonor this special day by stealing someone else’s Toyota Camry. The criminal wasn’t counting on the LoJack® system, which was installed when the car was purchased and helped local police track it down in a little over a half hour after activation.

On July 4th, 2013, the Toyota’s owner called Philadelphia Police to report his car was stolen. The assigned officer verified the theft and entered the vehicle’s information into the Philadelphia Police Computer System and the Pennsylvania State Police Computer. The LoJack device concealed in the Camry, which was installed at Toyota of Runnemede, NJ, was then automatically activated.

A short while later, officers from the Philadelphia Police 35th District picked up the homing signals from the Toyota on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The officers tracked the Camry to Mascher Street where it was found parked and unoccupied. The owner was thrilled to get his undamaged vehicle back so quickly.
