In this case, a Nissan Pathfinder is stolen in Los Angeles right around lunchtime and recovered in 21 minutes, thanks to the California Highway Patrol and the LoJack® system.

On July 1st, 2013, the Nissan’s owners contacted the Los Angeles Police Department- Rampart Division to report their vehicle had been stolen. LAPD officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. The LoJack device concealed in the vehicle, which was installed at Universal City Nissan in Los Angeles, CA, was then automatically activated.

A short while later, an officer from the California Highway Patrol East Los Angeles Area picked up the homing signal from the Pathfinder on the LoJack tracking computer installed in her patrol vehicle.  She began tracking the signal and located the Nissan parked and unoccupied at a local service station. While waiting for backup, she observed a male adult enter the car and drive off.  Officers stopped the Nissan and the driver fled on foot, but was quickly apprehended and booked. The Pathfinder was soon returned to its very relieved owners.
