The victims in this case got a terrible wake-up call one Monday morning when they found their Ford F-250 missing from their home in the Hammocks section of Miami-Dade, FL. It’s a good thing that the LoJack® system installed in their truck is always awake, ready to be activated to help local law enforcement track down stolen vehicles, as in this case where the pickup was located in just over an hour and a half after activation.

On July 1st, 2013, the Ford’s owners contacted the Miami-Dade Police to report that their truck was stolen. The responding officer verified the theft and had the vehicle’s information entered into the state and federal crime computers. This automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the F-250, which was installed at World Ford-Kendall in Miami, FL.

A short while later, a Miami-Dade Police sergeant picked up the homing signal from the stolen truck on the LoJack tracking computer installed in his police vehicle. The officer called for backup, and located the F-250 parked and abandoned near the intersection of S.W. 109th Street and 167th Avenue. The Ford was soon returned to its very relieved owners.
