Construction companies install the LoJack® system on their vehicles and machines for the same reason consumers do- to get them back quickly if they’re stolen. Losing a car, truck or piece of equipment prevents these businesses from doing their work and can result in a loss of income.  The Fort Lauderdale, FL company in this case had a Ford F-550 pickup stolen with an air compressor and welding machine attached. Local law enforcement, assisted by LoJack, was able to track down and retrieve all three machines in just over one hour after activation.

On June 26th, 2013, the truck’s operator contacted the Broward County Sheriff’s Office to report that their vehicle was stolen from their storage lot. The responding officer verified the theft prepared a stolen vehicle report and theft affidavit and had the vehicle’s information entered into the state and federal crime computers. The LoJack unit concealed in the truck was then automatically activated.

A short while later, Hollywood, FL police officers picked up the silent LoJack homing signal from the Ford on the LoJack tracking computer installed on their patrol vehicles. They located the vehicle in an apartment complex on North 33rd Avenue in Hollywood, where it was parked and abandoned. The undamaged F-550 and equipment was soon returned to the grateful owners.
