It isn’t always a stranger who takes your car, truck, van or motorcycle without permission. The Yonkers, NY resident in this case found that out the hard way when an acquaintance stole her keys and her Honda Ridgeline and refused to return them. The local police, with the help of the LoJack® system, were able to locate the truck and arrest the thief in under two and a half hours after activation.

On July 2nd, 2013, the Honda’s owner contacted Yonkers Police to report her vehicle was stolen when someone she knows took her vehicle and keys from her residence. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. The LoJack unit concealed in the Ridgeline, which was installed at Garden State Honda in Clifton, NJ, was then automatically activated.

A short while later, detectives assigned to NYPD’s Auto Crime Division, picked up the homing signals from the truck on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The officers tracked the unoccupied Honda parked behind a commercial building in the Bronx. After a brief surveillance, a male opened the driver side door and was placed under arrest. The Ridgeline was soon returned to its extremely happy owner.
