When the LoJack® system is activated to help locate a stolen car, it’s a nationwide activation, effective everywhere in the United States with LoJack coverage. So if your car, truck, van or motorcycle is moved across the country or across town, law enforcement will be able to locate it with LoJack. In this case, a Nissan Maxima stolen in South Carolina was recovered in North Carolina.

On June 16th, 2013, the owner of a Nissan Maxima contacted the Mint Hill, NC Police to report that their vehicle was stolen from an auto service garage. A male suspect, seen on surveillance video, broke in during the night and stole the keys and the car. Mint Hill PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This automatically activated the LoJack unit concealed in the Nissan, which was installed at Bay Ridge Nissan in Brooklyn, NY.

A short while later, deputies from the York County, SC Sheriff’s Office picked up the homing signals from the Nissan on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The deputies tracked the vehicle to an area in Fort Mill, it was parked and abandoned. The Maxima was soon returned to its relieved owner.
